you mean newer?
I have heard their debut
and i liked it a lot.

(why- it was that same boy of mine- the rascal!)

Plus my 13 year old daughter got some mix CDs from her friend- I laughed in that it included weezer- and Green day!

  Music vein...

Tim-

do you like what may be considered "classic rock" things?

ie - right now-I am listening to Chicago - (which became Chicago I)

Zep-Floyd, 70s or even 60s stuff?

just wondering where your tastes lie- I hear about new stuff...
(gotta check out these Flaming Lips...)

jiminy -- i'm all over the place. i listen to a little bit of everything. (the two most recent things i actually bought, happen to be sheryl crow and ac/dc. but next week it could be fugazi and slim whitman.)

chicago's kind of a guilty pleasure. i despise the sheer stupidity of some of their lyrics, but like them in some ways because their sound is associated with a certain time in junior high and then high school.

I know what you mean. Hey, was that you I was dancing with at the senior Christmas dance?

Tim:
I knew there was more than one reason why I liked you......

Chicago - just gotta love 'em Smile

I'm really appreciating Sheryl Crow lately, too - her remake of "Try to Love Again" is great (and I can really identify with "Are You Strong Enough {to be my Man}" )

But Slim Whitman? Ummmmmmmmmmmm...........................not!

Has anyone else noticed how popular this thread is today?

must be cuz've berger king.

muahahahahahahhahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

dale, dorf -- totally missed your questions. sorry!

dale -- the last things i've been listening to were the flaming lips and frank black.

dorfsmith -- i haven't heard the residents, but i'm vaguely familiar with their odd history. are they good?

carl -- you're a replacements fan! (there's hope for you!) Smile

Frank Black is one of the coolest.

Most people here hate The Residents but I'm a huge fan. I saw then on their Demons Dance Alone Tour and they blew me away!

well, i have their "blue", "green" and "maladroit" cd's and like em all.

btw, have you heard liam lynch ("fake songs")?

Posted by tchandler on 02-23-2004 at14:56:

jiminy -- i used to LOVE that terry kath guitar solo on 25 or 6 to 4.

dorfsmith -- i'll have to check out the residents.

captain pedantic -- yeah, the pet shop boys (although i was never a huge fan) sure bring back a certain time, don't they?

and, carl -- um, does berger realize that was you?

Make sure you listen to thr residents before you buy them. Petting Zoo is a great CD with some of their friendlier songs.

he sounds pretty bad....in a fun way. all the songs are like a minute and a half long. it has a very garage/alternative sound to it. he recorded it at home and aside from a couple of guest appearances from ringo and jack black....it's him by himself. he does a "fake" bowie song...a fake talking heads song.....a fake bjork song...a fake....well you get the idea. the fake songs make up like 6 of the 20 songs. the copy i got had a dvd of videos (that he made...at home). the whole thing is just fun...or is it funny?

the one song that most people know from the cd is "the united states of whatever". yes, my kids love that song.
