I watched it for the 2nd time last night.
Random observances....
Good thing it wasn't Mr. Taylor's Dream ("the head, the head" & partition-shaking farts)
I found it extremely educational - taking us into the studio
I've got the feeling that most studio experiences don't happen like that.. it seemed like they were "on the fly" with alot of the little additions & adjustments along the way. I assume most studio experiences have it all laid out going in.......but I really don't know
Frank Lenz is xxxxx-whipped
Don't get in Terry's face with a camera when he's using his little tape recorder
Tim Chandler smokes
Smoking was allowed in the Green Room
Chandler & Flesch are awesome musicians
What was the deal with Colbert's hands (flippers)?
Greg's acting was the weakest of the 4
These guys put together a musically beautiful album & I feel fortunate to have the CD & the DVD

Yeah & that spacey sound when one of 'em was trying to slam-dunk on moon.

Thread: Lost Dogs - Island Dreams |
|
I just got my 1st listen this weekend. It is a tremendous musical departure. If you didn't know it was the Lost Dogs, you would never guess. Hindalong's (Whore-of-Babylon's) percussive efforts reminded me of the ATFOTC sounds. Musically, it is incredible. I have a feeling that Daugherty (Deuteronomy) had more input into this than maybe any of the previous works. It's a very enjoyable listen. They had much fun with sound themselves.

Isn't it interesting that this song was written 3 yrs prior to 9/11?
Still quite haven't found the riddle to Sour Head Hauksa Loukee yet.

Berger,
I realize you're not insane, but do you have someone you can converse with on a regular basis? Are there any meds or possibly, change of meds that could be in play here? Not meaning to pry, but I am a concerned Edhead.

I just ordered mine without my wife's permission. Ya'll pray for my marital situation... I seem to have a problem spending $$$$ on GREAT STUFF! I recently got begrudging permission to buy the Charlie Peacock self-titled CD on EBay. (over $44 w/ s&h) gulp.....but I never knew it had ever been released on CD....it's GREAT STUFF....so, Island Dreams is available now on the Lost Dogs site? I'll be in trouble with the Mrs. anyway .........hmmmnnn ..........

Thread: Livgren's response to Into The Deep |
|
I posted on a Kerry Livgren list the fact that on the Surfonic CD, Into The Deep, written & performed by TST, the song is "for Kerry Livgren". We have a response from Livgren who apparently was not aware of the song from 1998.
regarding the question about the Terry Scott Taylor song with the note
"for Kerry Livgren", KL says:
> Never heard it before. I know OF Terry but I don't think we've ever
> met.
> Great lyrics....
I'll give you more breaking news as it becomes available...........

Thread: "Darn Floor Big Bite" quoted in SI |
|
Page 18 of this week's Sports Illustrated (the one with Shaq & the Suns player on the cover) is interesting. In the Scorecard section, a journalist is meeting with the dude who created these designer steroids. Their password was a responsive.....one said darn floor & the other said big bite.
Is that phrase a DA original? I always thought it was. If it is, than either the journalist or the steroid creator is a huge fan.
