OK that's it you can now call me Dr. Irwin - how do I change my post name in the profile but keep my post record?
In a few years after my ordination then I could be Reverend Dr. Irwin and if I make bishop then I could be the Right Reverend Dr. Irwin and then I'll hold a radio telethon and put it on Cd and... and... and...

Are you talking about the REAL Tim Chandler?

Yes I am. The Real one.
He posts from tim@thechior.net so it's the real one all right.
He also posts as Berger Roy Al from a hotmail address and has arguments with Tim (himself) JT and the Audioris. Nearly ruptured myself laughing once.

The most annying thing for me about the DADL is when a minority get started on some tangent on go on and on about it (e.g. the infamous cd copright discussion).

The best advice is to go into the danielamos.com and lostdogs.com webstores and buy everything you can :-)
Especially Zoom Daddy by the Swirlng Eddies
I'd also suggest 77s.com - Golden filed of radioactive crows is freakin' brilliant.
Try also thechoir.net some good stuff there - especially Flap your wings.
And after that repent sinner! :p

Tonight is Buffy's episode where every body sings. Been looking forward to it since i heard about it last year when it played inthe USA.
And that's the entertainment joy in this little city.
Actually comeing up is the Easter Camp reunion and it normally rocks. It's going to be in the Anglican cathedral which is at the centre of the city in the night life. Should be interesting - I can just imagine the look on the vergers face as he picks up the roof tiles the sonic booms will have knocked out of place.

If I remember correctly, that was the last thing Gene recorded. It was for the City On A Hill project. He was doing a demo for someone else who was going to do the song. I think....
BD

Yes, Gene did do a demo for City on a hill 1. It was used in the project as an intro to a song and fully recorded by ?? Ortega?

Well, again we've got this distance thing. I live in Australia and there's a huge slab of water between me and most of the good alternative Christian music

So where abouts in the land of Oz are you hiding?

So while I've put in an order to my local CD guy (Mal at www.cmp.com.au) who gets in ANYTHING I ask for, I'll probably have to wait another 6 odd weeks before it makes it into my CD player.

Mal is good. I have bought a number of times but mostly the second hand difficult to get stuff.

I used to be involved with the DA Discussion List (DADL) and it was quite infuriating when new CDs came out and were all over the discussion while I had to sit there and drool. By the time I got the CD and could get excited about it everyone was bored with the topic.
Slamhound (of Heaven)

That is a pain for a while for some bizarro reason I was often getting the stuff from DA.com before others on the list! But now I'm two to three weeks behind when it gets here.
*sigh*

When Everyone Wore Hats
It's here - it's good it's so good. I do like the redoings and it just gives a new vibe to an album that took a few spins to get to love. Disk three bugs me a bit as I like Turn this off best so far but it's hidden awaya and difficult to get to.
Little, Big
Mr Beuchners Dream t shirt
When Everyone Wore Hats t shirt
Orbis
74 minutes and 28 seconds of guitar playing genius. I love it. It's going in my mellow out and be a peace category of albums - along with Daydream and a couple classical
that funky crow thing
Woo hoo it's good Related is my fav on this disk so far. I played it to a guy at the youth group camp and he goes "This is really funky music" So he's with you Carl!
Later
I haven't listened to this as much as the crows album (BTW my mothers maiden name was Crow - so stick me in a feild with some weapons grade and I'm there baby!)
a 77s poster
Making God Smile
Paste sampler 1
Aliens and strangers - silent planet sampler
Avocado club disk 2
Of course not all have been sent (or made!) yet and most are due this week. Boy... is the trip to the youth group snow camp going to be interesting this weekend if they do get here.
What is it with 11-17 year old youth? Give them all these great funky music options (Lads, U2, DA, Zoom Daddy, 77's x 2 and Dogs [GRS1]) and what do they listen too... The Shrek soundtrack - if I hear "Like Wow" one more time I'll become an Ogre myself.
|
All in all it was a great camp I was on.
At one point we did an "Alt-worship" thing in which for the Sunday evening service the youth in their study groups decided on how they want to do a bit of experiencial worship - rather than just singing.
3 of the 4 decided to go outside and look at the stars.
We lay down on a clear winters night, in the mountains with no lights to over-ride the stars, no noise just God and His creation. Our group read Psalm 19 (The heavens declare...) another group sang God of Wonders (City on a Hill 1) and the third had people going off along to pray thanks.
Awesome stuff.

I'm off to the snow with 3 other leaders and 14 youth for a long weekend of preaching teaching and fun.
Can someone else post the the board the other reports from JT.
That is of course if the board actually want to read them and I'm not wasting time here.

I love Terry's comment about "That's a whole lot of DA fans..."

Thread: Daily Report #2 |
|
Greetings from Cornerstone, Day 2.
Today saw the first real day of activity at the W&F merch booth. All of
the expected releases (Taylor, Roe, DA and 77's) arrived on time and in
good shape. Eric and Jason Townsend, myself and Dan and Lisa Michaels
spent the better part of the day behind the merch counter. Hot work,
but we got to see a bunch more of the annual fans and the listserv
family.
Michael Roe, Mark Harmon, Ed McTaggert, Tom Strahle, Derri Daugherty,
Steve Hindalong, Marc Byrd and Tim Chandler all arrived today. Also,
Steve and Veronica Johnson and Theo Obrastoff made their CStone
appearance. We are all staying at the same hotel, and most of us on the
same floor, so it really does feel like a family reunion of sorts. Most
of us got together today and the spirits of all are running high.
We had the usual hotel/accommodation screw ups and I spent the better
part of my late evening sorting out room assignments, etc. Every year,
no matter how hard we try, the hotel manages to mess up the
accommodations.
Again, the day was spent in rehearsals for the Lost Dogs (Hindalong is
playing drums for them this year) and Daniel Amos (bringing Tom Strahle
up to speed). The 77's will not rehearse at the fest as they have had
many good pre-CStone rehearsals. Mark share the set list with me
tonight -- 3 separate parts to the show; (1) The loud, rock-n-roll
introduction; (2) the new material and the acoustic songs; and (3) the
long jam into a 30 minute medley of the old favorites. They have a 90
minute set.
I heard DA rehearsing "Youth With a Machine," but nothing else. The
Dogs sound good and loose, like usual.
Later today (Thursday) will see acoustic sets by Roe, Taylor and the
Dogs, as well as the full DA set at the Cornerstone stage. A big day
ahead of us all.
The dust is choking, the heat almost unbearable and the crowd nearing
20,000. No rain is forecasted anytime soon, it will only get hotter,
and by the weekend there will be near 40,000 in attendance. As Terry
said tonight, "That's a lot of DA fans. What's the fest going to do
once we're done and they all leave?"
I'll give you the skinny on the sets tomorrow morning.
JT
