Well, there are so few Christian bands from Canada that were/are any good, that its good to hear about that.
Um Level Heads, Carolyn Arends, The Awakening, any others?

true no one sounds like DA, but look at project86.com under the 2nd news item and they call themselves the band that won't go away!!! COuld there be some influece there?? Can't be a coincidence. OR maybe that line from DA was "stoled" from somewhere else?

It all sounds like what struck me as so beautiful from REM with Losing My Religion. Now it just all sounds so much alike.

I emailed, a couple of years ago, to our local christian station mentioning "no sense of history" (in that they seem to have none) and got one sympathetic response to that, they had one day this year when they played the "retro" 70's and 80's stuff.
And Driver, I had never heard Project 86 before I picked them up in a store here, I just read the lyrics and liked it, picked it up right there. Its not too late to be surprise by exciting new stuff, like the first time you heard Terry Taylor's voice.

Yeah I think we're all with you on that one Commander. I definitely feel like the machine is broken, the best artists are often in the 2nd tier of popularity, the pretty/silly ones are the most popular ones.

I'm only 31 and only in the past year or so have i come to realize that i've moved past the "cutting edge" of music, not to say that i was ever at the cutting edge, just that i've just realized it. There is a lot of junk though, don't get me wrong

I know where we are all are coming from but I guess what I want to know is are we just a bunch of aging grandpa's sitting around rememebering the good ol' days or are we actually basing it on some knowledge. So you say it all glows with warmth ( well, now except for Sixpence) so I want to know what specifically you think glows with warmth. I think a lot of it does too, but I also think there is a lot of good stuff out there too, just like DA and all the others "were" there, back in the day.

ok, for arguments sake then, who specifically glows with warmth in today's ccm. I don't think Project 86 glows with warmth. I don't think that Sixpence glows with warmth. No, let me change that, they are really terrific. They both put out intelligent lyrics and great music within the genre they play. So lets hear it. If it glows with warmth, prove it, mind you don't pick old stuff like the old MWS, or Amy Grant or newer Petra or the Tuxedo Clad Megastar, we already know about that. And I'm not talking about motives or whatever, that's the CCM machine, not the artists.

I think I have about two, the last two, the only two I knew about till it was too late. You have to admit though, there is something about having the piece of paper that these here ones and zeroes just can't match. Not that any of you are zeroes!
