I doubt if Daniel Amos has ever been to Alabama, much less name a CD or a chronicle of CDs after the state.
The Alabama Chronicles has a certain ring to it.....if it were to ever exist, I would assume it would sound like Meat The Farm Beetles.

Yes. Still in the works. We hope to have something to announce soon.
At this point, we're still working out details and contractual issues so we can't be too specific about anything. Solid Rock has verbally agreed to our suggested arrangement.. we're just working to get all of that in writing and signed by representatives from both companies. |

My hope is that, at the very least, D.A. will do a new record in 2006.
In the meantime, be assured that this will be a great Eddies record (I’m really pleased with the songs thus far), and we’ll do something extra special for all of you who so long ago sent in your pre-orders. |

or the South, which for some reason is being linked with the East............it's a shame that half the band is from the South & they can't book a gig..................... |
i don't understand your confusion. we are in the eastern half of the country, are we not? or do you alabama folk not believe in "geography"?
|
There's nothing east about Alabama. We are considered South. Georgia is east of us, so yeah......I guess you're east Larry, but I'm south. You're on Eastern time. I'm on Southern time (well actually Central) |
i originally said "eastern half of the country" are you east or west of the mississippi river? that should help. |
either way.................we've been screwed.....those east of the Mighty Mississippi

Some of the songs (Broken Like Brooklyn, The Lost Cabin And The Mystery Trees, and This Business Is Goin' Down) really evoke some of the same feelings of songs off SOTH/WEWH like When Everyone Wore Hats, The Glory Road, and Sins of the Fathers. I think this is at least partly why they chose to include Devils' Elbow.
I can actually listen to Devil's Elbow now. That one little high part by Terry:
And Dotty the waitress says "When we quit,
we'll put a lock on the door
and that'll be it
No more chicken-in-a-basket
or Chili-Supper benefits
and some of Derri's high/smooth vocal doesn't grate on my nerves quite as bad as it did at first. I still really wonder if Terry threw in that one high part just to show everybody he still had it in him. It's a good rendition of the song, I just had already fallen in love with the simpler version off WEWH.
As always, I think some of the songs could be interpreted more than one way due to their imagery, but most work pretty well direct.
Whispering Memories is a great, simple, heartbreaking country song, all the more melancholy because of the truth behind it.
Overall, I still say the Dogs are "back in form" and in some ways it's just as good or better as Gift Horse and Real Men Cry. Of course I really like all of their CDs. I wonder how this one is doing in the sales dept? Audis? Anyone see them selling a lot on tour?
|
I think Terry went falsetto on that part because he was singing in Dotty's voice

Yes....I could handle the Eddies worship if it's similar to this.
But...........I just don't think Berger could stay under control for a worship record.

Yeah I think they just went nuts and recorded a bunch of songs. The first time we heard it was in Nashville GMA week Tim played some of it for us and the songs were all in a different order. At that point it seemed more like all the softer songs were on one disc and all the harder ones were on the other, kind of like the Beatles White Album. That was right after it was recorded I think. So they were probably just in the order in which they were taped off? No idea.
But I think they all said they just went nuts because it had been so long that they worked together. |
Maybe that bodes well for the next one since its approaching that time gap again............................
