Well, this isn't exactly on-topic, but I thought it was certainly close enough...

Small Things
Who despises the day of small things?
Zechariah 4:10
Life is filled with a series of small things that can amount to
something big. Have you ever considered why the God of the universe came
to earth and spent 33 years identifying with mankind through work? Jesus
grew up as a carpenter's son and, no doubt, learned the trade from His
daily routine of helping His father. For 30 years He worked. When it was
time for Him to begin to fulfill His purpose for mankind, He told
countless stories of people and their work. He told stories of
landowners, farmers, fishermen, tax collectors, and so on. He related to
the everyday man because He Himself was one. This is why it was
important for Him to have some personal work experience.
Life is filled with daily routines. Every now and then, God takes us to
the mountaintop to experience His presence in a dramatic way. This is
not the norm. It was not the norm for those in the Bible either. Moses
spent 40 years in preparation. Paul spent a great deal of his life
working toward the wrong purpose until a dramatic event changed his
life. Jacob spent 20 years working for Laban.
God uses work to develop character qualities that He plans to use at the
appropriate time. In the small things we develop trustworthiness with
God. The day-in and day-out grind of working life molds us and makes us
into what God desires. God may still be preparing you for something far
greater. For now, however, you are learning the daily lessons of small
things. Pray that you will be faithful.

Yeah it's nice. I put it in my file.
I'm not really that great a pastor, but I am an exceptional thief.

Small Great Things
from the album "Mr. Buechner's Dream"
Music by Daniel Amos, Words by T.S. Taylor

She cast her drag net
Out on the ocean
Pulled out a debt
And a sinking dream
All she had left was
Her devotion
And heaven knows thats
Everything
He staggered blind up
To the altar
And left a cup
Filled with a
Drunkards faith
In their disguises
They pass each other
The Saviors eyes
In a foreign face
Chorus: No they aren't walking
On the water
They aren't wearing their angels wings
Wayward sons and fragile daughters
A touch of faith enough for
Small great things
They're unaware they
Moved a mountain
With fumbled prayers and
Their bloodied knees
God's ruined hands,
They've read about them
They've never touched them
But they still believe
No they aren't winning
Every battle
Life is tough and death
Still it stings
Doubt comes on and
Faith is fragile
Just a touch enough for
Small great things
No they aren't walking
On the water
They aren't wearing their angels wings
Wayward sons and fragile daughters
A touch of faith enough for
Small great things

Ordinary Extraordinary Day
from the album "Mr Buechner's Dream"
Music by Daniel Amos, Words by T.S. Taylor

No, nothing really happened
The earth didn't shake
A few fell off the wagon
Some were early
Some were late
Chorus:
It was an ordinary
Extraordinary day
It was a very
Ordinary
Extraordinary day
In every way
There was living and dying
And everything in between
There was laughing and crying
The sky was blue
And the grass was green
Chorus
Bridge:
And no one pushed the button
The sea reached the shore
To the starving and the glutton
To the rich and the poor
It was…
Chorus
We were faithless and faithful
We were free, we were bound
Graceless and graceful
The moon came up
When the sun went down
On our…
Chorus

Well, reading those lyrics makes me realize that it's been a while since I've had a listen. It's time. Small Great Things is one of my favorites due to the lyrics. Thanks, MF
