V. Old Business
· Election Results - The Secretary received 49 ballots for 2003-2004 officers. Based on the tally of votes, the following officers and members were elected: Dan St. Germain - President
Kerry Hanlon-President Elect
W.T. West-Secretary
Arnie Schiffman-Treasurer
Bob Stewart, Craig Werle and Bob Blauvelt - Members at Large

· 2002 Joint AIPG-AEG Annual Meeting -Bob Fakundiny provided a summary of the 2002 Meeting in Reno. According to Bob, the new national president is a highly motivated individual. There was a discussion to urge employers to obtain accreditation/approval from AIPG. Each section would have a subgroup to review and approve companies. The plan to accredit companies, however, is only in the conceptual stage. Also, there were preliminary discussions regarding the absorption of AEG into AIPG. According to officers within AEG, their organization is saddled with tremendous debt due to large overhead costs and publication costs.

VI. 2004 National Meeting:
Dan St. Germain and Bob Stewart completed a trip to the Gideon Putnam in early October (the same period when the National meeting in 2004 will be held). During their visit the leaves were not at their peak, but this could be a result of the abnormal weather that pre-dated their visit. Bob Stewart has made two visits to Saratoga Springs now and he continues to be impressed with area (cultural, things to do, etc.). Bob also stated that the hotel was well suited to host the meeting.
· The next step for the Executive Committee is to establish a meeting schedule. Dennis McGrath's e-mail to Dan St. Germain regarding the preparation of the schedule was discussed. There are a number of volunteers that have expressed interest in assisting with the meeting, but to date, several committee chairs are still open. Bob Stewart wants to formalize the schedule by the end of year. Bob Blauvelt agreed to chair program schedule and Bob Fakundiny agreed to assist. New York Geological Survey in Albany has conducted hundreds of field trips in the area and Bob Fakundiny indicated that they would be happy to assist in planning that activity (whoever chairs the field trip committee should contact Bob Fakundiny).
· Bob Fakundiny felt that the student presence was missing in Reno (no student poster presentations and it was sorely missed). Skidmore College is located in Saratoga Springs, and it would be good to have a student chair the poster session. Other colleges are nearby (e.g., SUNY-Oneonta). Bob Fakundiny will assist in finalizing the meeting schedule, spousal events, field trips and student activities.
· Bob Stewart and Dan St. Germain agreed that Dan would put together an initial budget.
· Potential Themes: Bob Stewart presented a possible theme: Geology: The Profession That Changed the World - very appropriate if we are able to secure Simon Winchester as a keynote speaker (he was the author of the book "The Map that Changed the World"). Lenny met with Simon Winchester recently and he was enthusiastic about speaking at 2004 AIPG National Meeting. Bob Blauvelt also suggested John Mc Phee. Lenny believes that John Mc Phee does not do speaking engagements and that Russ Slayback was unsuccessful in inviting John Mc Phee to be the keynote speaker at 1993 National Meeting in Springfield, MA.

VII. Newsletter
- Bob Stewart has finished the Holiday Newsletter and it is now in Dick Young's hands. Bob Stewart indicated that he continues to have difficulty getting content to fill the newsletter. Bob Stewart believes that the newsletter is for the Section's benefit and that more of the members should be serving the Section by sharing their current activities with the Section via the newsletter. With each newsletter, Bob has roughly 22 pages to fill. Regular features include the Presidential ramblings (4-pages) and the Section meeting minutes (approximately 3 pages per meeting). Depending on the number of approved meeting minutes that are available, that still leaves approximately 12-15 pages of content per newsletter. The Holidays Newsletter included a report on the Annual meeting (4 pages), but only one set of approved meeting minutes. Bob indicated that there was a two-week window for having loose stuffing material added to the Holiday issue of the newsletter. Bob Stewart also discussed his recent success with soliciting advertisers.

VIII. Adjournment
- 1410 hours.
