Attendees: Dennis McGrath, Dan St. Germain, Kerry Hanlon, Robert Stewart, Russ Slayback and John Gavras. Sam Gowen, Dean Herrick, Arnold Schiffman and Bob Blauvelt were in attendance by telephone.

II. Secretary's Report
· No report was available.

III. Treasurer's Report
· The January 2002 Treasurer's Report was reviewed. A motion to accept the report was received and seconded by Dan St. Germain. The report was accepted and approved by an Executive Committee vote.

IV. Correspondence
· A letter was received from the NYSCPG, thanking the NE-AIPG for their recent contribution.

V. Old Business
· Election Results: The election results for three members-at-large to the 2002-2003 Executive Committee were not available.

· ATMGSTF: The Executive Committee discussed conducting a new drive for the Scholarship Perpetual Trust Fund, in support of the Section's long-time goal of increasing participation to 100% of Section members. The committee recognized the current and anticipated demands on the Section's limited resources of volunteer leadership. Given this, it was agreed to pursue this goal on the basis that has been employed since the Scholarship Fund was established in 1987: namely, to provide each Section member the opportunity - at least annually - to contribute. This opportunity will continue to be made available through notices and solicitation inserts in the Newsletter and on the web site (where the contribution form is now available). The periodically updated list of contributors will continue to be posted in the Newsletter and on the web site.

· NYSCPG Update: The NYSCPG's thanked the NE-AIPG for their 2001 contribution, however, there was no new information to report because the legislature is on holiday break. The bill will be re-submitted to the legislature in 2002 and NYSCPG is very hopeful to obtain passage in 2002.

· NHCPG Update: No new information to report. There is only six months remaining in the grandfathering period.

· Spring 2002 Field Trip: Bob Blauvelt has organized a program for the Spring Meeting which will include a field trip to the Weehawken Tower Historical Restoration with a presentation on the restoration efforts by the architect. A second presentation, tentatively planned after dinner, will include the geology of the Palisades by a Rutgers geology professor.

VI. 2004 National Meeting
· Bob Stewart visited Saratoga Springs, New York and selected the Gideon Putnam Hotel as most suitable hotel to host the 2004 meeting. A tentative booking is set for the 1st weekend in October 2004. A room count will be requested from National to obtain an estimate of the number of rooms to reserve for 2004. Bob will then go back to the Gideon Putnam and get a draft contract for National's review. The USGS sent the field trip guide book from the American Association of State Geologists (AASG) meeting at the Gideon Putnam in 1991 and offered to help set up the field trips. CRC Press contacted Bob and was interested in publishing the proceedings, if any. ·

NE-AIPG Web Site Update: The NE-AIPG web site was recently updated by Dan St. Germain with suggestions from Dick Young. New changes include on-line applications for advertisers and on-line application/instructions for candidates for the ATMGSTF.

VI. New Business
· Dennis McGrath anticipated needing assistance from the Executive Committee in late January/early February to contact members who haven't paid their dues in 2002. Last year considerable effort was expended to contact approximately 100+ members.

IX. Adjournment
1745 hrs.
