AIPG-Northeast Section Executive
Committee Meeting
Monday March 4, 2002

I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 1615
hrs. Attendees included: Dennis McGrath, Kerry Hanlon, John Gavras, Craig
Werle and Dan St. Germain. Arnold Schiffman attended via conference call.
Minutes prepared by Dan St. Germain and Dennis McGrath.
II. Secretary's Report
The Secretary's Report for the
January 7, 2002 meeting was accepted by conference call/e-mail vote.
III. Treasurer's Report
The March 4, 2002 Treasurer's Report
was reviewed. Dan St. Germain presented a motion to accept the report. The
motion was seconded by John Gavras and approved by an Executive Committee
vote.
IV. Correspondence
2002 Dues Reminder: Dennis
McGrath contacted National about the annual late dues notice he typically
receives. They sent him a list of members that have not paid their dues
and Dennis contacted most of them either by e-mail or telephone urging
them to submit their dues for 2002.
National Cooperative Mapping
Program: Dennis McGrath received a letter from Larry Cerrillo (AIPG
National President) requesting the members send a letter of support for
the National Cooperative Mapping program to either the Subcommittee
members or their Congressman.
2001 Income and Expense Statement:
Dennis McGrath received a letter from National requesting the
Northeast Section complete an enclosed form that outlines our receipts and
disbursements. This statement is submitted to the Internal Revenue
Service. Arnie Schiffman (Treasurer) agreed to complete the form and send
it to National.
V. Old Business
Election results for three Executive
Committee Members: The election results for the three executive
committee members were received by Tom West (Secretary) and totaled. The
results show that the three candidates were re-elected by receiving 30-31
votes each.
ATMGSTF: The Executive Committee discussed
conducting a TF drive. Dennis McGrath recommended a $1/week campaign with
the goal of 100% participation. Craig Werle recommended an individual
mailing to home addresses, however most of the mailing address for members
are to businesses.
Spring 2002 Meeting: The 2002 Spring
Meeting will be at the Weehawken Water Tower in Weehawken, NJ. Eric
Holtermann, the architect leading the renovation and restoration project
will make a presentation on the history of the Tower and the current
renovation/restoration effort. Dinner will be at the Chart House
restaurant, also in Weehawken. After dinner, Dr. Alec Gates from
Rutgers-Newark, will give a presentation on the faults and fracturing of
the Hudson Highlands. An announcement will appear in the Winter 2002
Newsletter and on the web page.
VI. NE-AIPG Web Site
The web site will be updated soon with
the Spring Meeting announcement. Dan will also look into putting new
secure page on the web site for Executive Committee members to distribute
ATMGSTF applications to the review committee. This secure page will only
be accessed by the Executive Committee.
VII. 2004 National Meeting
Update Bob Stewart received a
Draft Contract from the Gideon Putnam for review and approval by the
Section and National. Bob also received a proposal from CRC Press to
publish the Proceedings of the 2004 National Meeting.
VIII. Newsletter and Directory of Members Update
The
Newsletter will have 14 new advertisers due to the diligent work of Dick
Young. John Gavras has volunteered to help Curt Kraemer with the DOM, if
needed.
IX. New Business
2002 Fall Meeting: Potential
locations discussed included the Portland, CT pegmatite mine and Lamont
Doherty Earth Observatory - possibly for a presentation of their recent
work on the Hudson River.
Sharing members mail and e-mail
address: Dennis McGrath received a request from the HMPGA for the
NE-AIPG postal and e-mail address list. They would like to use it to
advertise a DNAPL seminar. The Executive Committee agreed that Dennis
should contact National and follow their policy about distributing the
postal and e-mail addresses.
