  Wilco

"Playing Kiss covers, beautiful and stoned."

The New Wilco CD "Yankee Foxtrot Hotel" comes out at the end of the month! I have a preview of it a friend of all of ours has burned for me, but I don't think it has all the songs, and a lot of the songs are cut-off, and at any rate I would buy it anyways!

can't wait,
dennis

I have heard Wilco, but don't own any of their stuff. What do you recommend starting with?

A.M is very good. Has hit single "Box Full of Letters"
If you like the raw Lost Dogs stuff, or AF you would like this.
It has funny songs like "Pasenger Side" -i.e. "Your gonna spill my beer, if you don't learn how to steer."
And Casino Queen which is like another Vegas Story. Like when Homer and Ned get married Smile

Summerteeth is AWESOME. Imagine the Beatles if they kept making albums like Revolover and Rubber Soul, 30 years later. Run don't walk, check this one out.
Great lyrics.
"The ashtray said, you were up all night."
"The cups are cracked and hooked over the sink."
"She begs me not to hit her"
"No loves as random as God's love"

The other Wilco "Being There" is great as well.
"Back in you old neighborhood, cigarettes taste so good, so misunderstood. so misunderstood."

You also must hear the CDs Wilco made with Billy Bragg.
Mermaid Ave (volumes one and two) they take the words of Woody Guithrie and put new music to them.
wonderful.
they are also a "must own"

  Wilco

i downloaded a copy of the new Wilco back in December (and I bought it yesterday when it came out) and i have to say that is incredible. I can't say it's their best, but it's as good as their other albums--primarily Summer Teeth and Being There.

For a starter, I would recommend Summer Teeth or Being There, the former over the latter. But any of their records would be a good start, especially the first Mermaid Avenue (never got into the second one).

Anywho, keep on rockin' you "crazy rides rockets"!

It came out yesterday? I gott get my burro to the store tonight! Wink

I guess I would pick A.M for a first Wilco, although my first was "Mermaid Ave."

Go with all speed. I saw Wilco back a few years ago. I want to say I saw them Nov, 2000 or something like that. Great show. Awesome show. More than worth the $17.50. They played something like two hours. It's in my top five concertsSmile

p.s. buy the tickets for the love of Uncle Ralph!!!!

hey don't feel like a Loser, joey t. the only wilco ive ever heard is...
YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT.

and i really love it. so now i'll have to back up and get some of their earlier stuff when i can. YHF is a dem fine place to start if you're unacquainted (like i was).

ah the concert thursday night... if i go, dr rich, im afraid i'll be cursing your llamaic advice during my stats final on friday. on the other hand, if i don't go, i'll only have myself to curse, which is always less fun.

i'll let you know if i end up going (you know, so i can rub it in Wink )!
