  TBN/Televangelist References in DA Songs

Been perusing the messageboard (both old and new) for a while now, but this is my first post on either.

Was listening to MBD this morning and thinking about the two threads Mr. B. references in DA music? and Carman.org on the off-topic list.

Thought it might be fun to find all the DA or TST songs that have lyrics related to or allude to TBN and/or big-hair televangelists.

I'll start with one easy one and let you all add more:

1. Faithful Street - DA, MBD

2.

3.

Oh, boy... if I'm quick I'll be second.

I don't know if it is explicitly a "big hair televangelist" or not... but that's always the image it invokes in my mind:

2. New Car! from Doppleganger

(Perhaps John Jacobs could tell us something more about it...)

Cheers!
Gus

oh, oh, how-did I miss it...
also, of course,

3) I Didn't Build It For Me, Doppelganger

Posted by Joey T. on 04-26-2002 at14:38:

  too numerous to mention...

Don't forgot "new scar" which was on Vox Robotica but was considered too controversial to make the cut for Vox Humana. It was about plastic surgery that a certain TBN personality had.... and of course...

Also,

4) Autographs for the Sick, also from Doppelganger

I think this was a main theme in Doppelganger.

Or at least that was they way I "understood" Doppel.

Cheers!
Gus
