ahhh...
i'm glad you pointed that out john - -
i always go straight to the message board (and it doesn't have the sidebar menu), so i probably never would have seen that ittybitty new link.

mmm... money...
...i wish i had more with which to "purchase generously" in the webstore Frown

hey
here's to terry & co....
...for their willingness to deal with ongoing financial insecurity in order to continue creating & sharing this music that means so much to us.
hope they know how much we appreciate it.

nobody but Terry can read this!

Thanks Terry for the honest & frank letter.

I do feel like you are more than a "singer/songwriter" and it makes me happy that you consider us more than fans. We are an odd little family. Your music and this message board have done wonders for my life in the past few years. Helped me to reconcile myself with the Church again, slowly but surely.

It's funny, the Big Label artists I don't feel bad about having copies off, but with your stuff it's harder. I don't really even like having my cd-r off "darn floor" even though I bought the tape when it came out. On the other hand I am not going to pay big money to some bozo on ebay either... cheap? maybe. I just can't afford it, it the main reason. Besides I would rather you get the money on a re-release.

Make that three votes for people who wish they had more to buy generously with. Man, if I had the dough I'd have ordered the "Everyone Wore Hats" Special release among other things, but now it's tight.

I'll be praying that God continues to bless Terry and co. though - I came to the realization in recent weeks that Daniel Amos is the most under appreciated band in Christian Music, and lo and behold, I find a group of folks here who would seem to agree with that sentiment...

As someone who has had to call it quits in his own personal business endeavors (and a bankruptcy to boot), I understand this concept thoroughly. Independent stores always get castigated for being more expensive than their big box counterparts. People aren't willing to pay retail anymore, and it is driving the locally owned and operated business, well, out of business. The local Christian bookstores charge $16 and $17 per CD because that is the price set by the record companies. It isn't the local store that has jacked up the price - it is Chordant and Provident and KMG and Word. Most Christian bookstores make very little, if any, profit. Best Buy can certainly sell for less because they can buy thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of a release and use their buying power to get their price down. If more people shopped at their locally owned businesses instead of Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc., those big boy stores wouldn't be able to offer less-than-retail prices either.

So - unless you plan to open stores all across the country all at once - don't go into retail - or, at least, don't expect to be able to compete with price. There are other things you can offer that the big box stores can't.
