Wow, The Imperials, that brings back memories! My older brother won some Imperial tickets when I was about 8 years old. We went to see them in Indiana, it's been a long time. I don't remember if Terry Blackwood and Sherman Andrus were still with them or if they had already formed Andrus Blackwood & Co. It was about 1977 or '78. "Heaven Help Us All", I think that was the name of my favorite song. "Heaven help the man who gave the boy a gun" Been a long time, I was very young.

They see where you've gone
They've seen that you've gone to...

You take another trip down memory lane
You go down there once too often and you're likely to remain

Words and Music by Terry Taylor

You have gotten much thinner
You're lookin' like a shadow
It's from dwelling on the might-have-beens
Living in a time-warp
To whom am I speaking? Some ghost from the past?
While you think about old glories
You're fading real fast

You take too many trips down memory lane

You take another trip down memory lane
You go down there once too often and you're likely to remain

I HaVe HaD this song stuck in my HeaD all DaY !!! Big Grin

Girl, you know it's true.

I saw Milli Vanilli in concert and I couldn't tell they were lip synching.

  Off Topic

Regarding the whole Milli Vanilli thing:

Has anyone else ever wondered why someone would destroy a record of music that they enjoy listening to even if it was found out to be a fake?

I could understand that you would feel betrayed to some extent, but if you liked the music then why would it matter that the two chicks, err..dudes on the cover didn't actually perform the song.

That's the problem with the whole MTV-thing. Its all based on image and has nothing to do with music.

(BTW, I'm not a Milli Vanilli fan. I don't mind listening to Vanilli so much, but I could never stand Milli's singing.)

Or course Milli Vanilli's music is terrible and I wouldn't be caught dead listening to it, but I'm still curious what people think about it.

Let say, for instance, that we all discovered that Terry's music was actually written and sung by Morty the producer and that Terry was just the eye swiss vanilla booboo for the band.

Would you appreciate the music, lyrics, commentary, humor, etc. any less?

Would you stop listening to your CDs? Burn them?

My main question to those former Milli Vanilli fans is if the music didn't change before the revelation that they were a fraud, why should your opinion of the music (not the artist) change after the fact?

I know that this isn't the most important or timely social topic of the day, but I've always wondered what other's have thought of this. The only answer I come up with is that few people really listen or care about music and for most its all just the image.

Posted by dorfsmith on 06-10-2003 at00:54:

Sadly, you are right. I wouldn't think any less of the music if terry was a fraud.
