When I go walkin'
I strut my stuff
And I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite
And I just might

Oh, that just breaks my heart.......................

Glen's been doing so well with his alcohol problems.......as his son said "That's what alcohol addiction can do to people," son Shannon Campbell, 18, told Reuters in a telephone interview. "People should pray for him and any other people who have the same problem."

Shannon Campbell said the incidents do not happen often with his father, whose official web site says that the singer has given up alcohol and smoking cigarettes.
===============

As you're praying for him, prayers for my husband are in also order, for this very same thing...................last Thursday, just before I left for the funeral in Montana, Dan offered to help with some money (nice guesture, I suppose), but he was very drunk, and talked about losing a large sum of money at the casino recently. It made me so sad, because I thought he was doing better..............he's obviously not Frown

Don't forget that parents hated Elvis because of the hip swivel. They called him "Elvis The Pelvis". Had nothing to do with what he was singing.

Not that I think any of our teenyboppers of today are destined for Elvis' heights or depths, but it has always come down to a visual, and sexual, component that made parents absolutely HATE what their kids listened to.

Don't forget: rock and roll itself is a allusion to... you know... thingy.

Thingy?

You know! Thingy.

True story.

When I was a little boy I wanted to comb my hair like Glen Campbell. Hell of a player, even plays the bag pipes.

I like the fact that Terry mentioned Tommy Smothers. Tommy is the only person I have an autographed photo of. He is a great player, wonderful showman and one of the reasons I play guitar. I'd love to meet him.

Too bad more kids don't know about those guys. My kids love their albums.

How about Roy Clark? He's also a great guitar player. Cool

am i the only one who finds a LOT of humour in uncle terry's rant about rascal flatts? being that they all came from the CCM industry?

Posted by zippetydoodaddy on 11-25-2003 at23:07:

Oh yeah???

Who were they before the transformation?

Posted by larryl on 11-26-2003 at09:14:

o good grief...you people need to get out more!! (my ex wifde was a CCM junkie)

jay demarcos was in east to west, a horrible lil ccm pop group
gary levox, boh cooper, and jay......played in michael english's touring band, and on his "gospel" album. all three had also played with numerous other CCM acts, and CCM was what brought them all to nashville in the first place

in a side note.......boh cooper(the keyboard player) has left to tour with michael english again....he was not happy with the direction rascal flatts was taking, apparently.

thus endeth my lesson........along with ANY chance of my getting repect on this board......

Posted by DwDunphy on 11-26-2003 at09:50:

  I wonder if that's Terry's motivation

He seemed to take an awful hate to the word "rascal" and that triggered some confusion for me. What's his opinion of Felix Cavalieri and The Young Rascals, thought I?

But the whole Michael English brouhaha from years past and the transformation to horny good-ol-boy country stars speaks more to moralistic chafing.
