Yeah variety is good. It's a difficult thing to describe without people taking the point wrong. A lot of Christian fests already cater to the CCM pop crowd, Cornerstone has always been the alternative. It has always been about that vision of being something unique. An artistic atmosphere of expressionalism. A celebration of creativity. It never really bought into just having the popular 'safe' CCM music. The Youth Minister sanctioned Youth Group emotion driven Christian pep rally music "to reach the kids." There is a balance there, they have to bring in some 'popular' stuff to get the kids to show up. But the fear for most Cornerstone veterans is that the more that happens, the more the pendalum swings to that side it will also dictate who they book to a greater and greater degree. And then the original calling or purpose of the fest will be diminshed, it will no longer be that unique creative experience but instead it will just be the other Christian pep rally of CCM. It's basically the people that love what Cornerstone is are afraid of it changing, sometimes people say "change is good" and some times it is.... but when you are already the best, change can be bad. |

Screw Cornerstone! Somebody needs to start a better festival and leave C-stone for the pop-crazed bad-music CCM BS. |
