I happen to think that there should be room for Project 86, the Newsboys, and the Lost Dogs (or their various other configurations). More music styles = a good thing to me. That "I don't like them because they are MTV clones and therefore have no artistic talent" line is a cop-out. Evil

Still Terry, Mike, and Derri deserve much more recognition than they ever get... Frown

Screw Cornerstone! Mad

Somebody needs to start a better festival and leave C-stone for the pop-crazed bad-music CCM BS.

Sure they have talent but they are boring because they are trying to be like everybody else. I can't get in to that. There are two bands on MTV right now that rock though!!! Franz Ferdinand and Modest Mouse Tongue Tongue Tongue

Yeah variety is good. It's a difficult thing to describe without
people taking the point wrong. A lot of Christian fests already
cater to the CCM pop crowd, Cornerstone has always been
the alternative. It has always been about that vision of being
something unique. An artistic atmosphere of expressionalism.
A celebration of creativity. It never really bought into just
having the popular 'safe' CCM music. The Youth Minister
sanctioned Youth Group emotion driven Christian pep rally
music "to reach the kids."

There is a balance there, they have to bring in some 'popular'
stuff to get the kids to show up. But the fear for most Cornerstone
veterans is that the more that happens, the more the pendalum
swings to that side it will also dictate who they book to a greater
and greater degree. And then the original calling or purpose of the fest
will be diminshed, it will no longer be that unique creative experience
but instead it will just be the other Christian pep rally of CCM.

It's basically the people that love what Cornerstone is are afraid
of it changing, sometimes people say "change is good" and some
times it is.... but when you are already the best, change can be bad.

Thank you! This is precisely why I agree with dorf on this issue! Wink I don't want C-stone to get away from what it was designed for.

Nope, C-stone just needs to avoid the pop-crazed bad-music CCM BS and stick to its roots or it might just be uprooted and turn into a pop-crazed bad-music CCM BS festival.

Variety is good. CCM is bad. Keep C-stone alternative with the variety within that genre! Roll Eyes

  OT sort of

Well, not to harp on this: but at the bottom you can opt to email C-Stone and let them know they forgot somebody. So, I emailed them yesterday and told them that I had played two years in a row with Terry and the guys and that it was a pity to pass a great cause over. I said the DA fan base would be supportive.

Perhaps some of you could email them as well. My heart isn't broken if I don't do C-Stone again. For two years it was gloriously outrageous to hang with the "guys" and do those shows. It was a blessing un-looked for. However, if it could happen again, the exposure is good for the cause. Just a thot. Thankx.

PS: How many times can we vote DA/77s/Choir/etc ??? Tongue Big Grin
