  Avocado Club

In 2003 Cindy signed me up and I never received anything at all. Are we going to get refunds or credit Tongue

Can I start an un-official Dr. Edward Daniel Taylor fan club?

You never received anything?

Was this a new subscription or a re-subscription?

Posted by dorfsmith on 12-28-2004 at14:13:

It was new. She ordered it in August 2003. I forgot all about it until I found the note that came with my other present Big Grin

How about the re-subscribers?

I remember the last comment was that things will be supplied when there is something to supply. How are things on that?

This was a serious question. Red Face

If it is unofficial, why bother asking?

Shocked I walked right into that one! Shocked

Shocked Geronimo....

I was really hoping someone else would be the one to bring this up, given my history, but since no-one has and I feel better these days, I guess I'll be the one to do it:

It's been nearly two years since orders for AC 3 & 4 (aka "the renewals") were first solicited. At last report, things were dead in the water or at least at a complete standstill. There was talk about store credit or some other special substitute perk if the series wasn't continued.

So, in short, where are things with it now, and what are our options, if any?

Posted by Eleanor on 12-30-2004 at10:20:

I hope carl breaks my fall...

Would you jump off a cliff just because carl did?

Posted by carl on 12-30-2004 at10:23:

Cool

Well, I hope you hit first, given the extra padding.... Tongue

We've been giving Terry & Mike some time to think about what
they want to do with the clubs. So far, neither of them have really
given any input on where they want to go with them... in their
defense, we haven't been badgering them to do so - not for
any particular reason, we've just been busy on different fronts.

Had they wanted to keep the clubs going in some way - we would
have just carried over the old resubscriptions to the new clubs. At
this point, I don't know what they're planning to do. I think they'd like
to see them continue (under better circumstances), but the clubs in
the past were such a complicated mess that they almost don't want to
think about jumping in again.

At this point, it doesn't really matter to us what you guys want to
do - if you want to use your resub for store credit, you're free to do
that. Just let us know. audiori@danielamos.com

As far as original subs go... everyone should have received both
releases. If anyone didn't, they need to contact us as well.

Dorf - we can get you copies of both releases. I'm not sure what
happened with your subscription. although I guess you subscribed
right before Warm&Filled went belly up and the clubs were thrown
into chaos.

Cool In that case....

As long as I can find something I don't already have, I'll be cashing that puppy in shortly. Big Grin

If you don't hear from me within the hour, consider me temporarily satiated and patient. Big Grin

Thanks for the feedback.

That would be cool to get the old ones. I would be more than happy with that Cool Tongue

  How about it Audi?

I'll pay both the subscription and re-subscription fees to get both releases. By the time I was hooked into the site it was too late to join - but I would sure like to get the two special releases now.

How about it Audi?

Knowing how some media are more effective than others.... it's worth noting that I made my self-imposed deadline last Thursday, and somewhere in that overstocked Inbox of yrs is a modest proposal.... Big Grin

I do know we have a stack of the second Avocado disc,
we could get some of the first one and offer them for a small
price to those that missed out originally...after we make sure
those that are still owed receive theirs.

Thats what Mike wanted to do with the 77s Christmas CD,
he just wanted to sel it. I don't think he was keen on the idea
that was originally promised; that those songs would not be
offered again in any other way. I remember a quote of his
to the effect of "you mean they are doomed to cardboard hell?"
I think Mike liked the songs enough he wanted to sometime
present them in a better format.

Basically for whatever reason, the original clubs were presented
to us to sell in such a way we thought all the details were already
handled. Then once we were selling it, we started to learn
that none of the details were handled... Mike and Terry were
kind of in the dark as much as we were. Good intentions
fowled up I guess.

If they are started up again, we would want to make sure that
everything that s promised is doable. If there is a promise of 2
releases a year, Mike and Terry know they have to do that and
agree. If a promise is made about clubmembers getting preferred
seats at concerts... someone has to do that. Etc.
We don't like being the ones who have to answer for all of the
"issues" with the fan clubs when basically none of it was planned
by us to begin with.
There were a lot of problems and we were the ones that had
to answer to people for them. We even had some people say
they signed up for the clubs at a show (that we were not at)
and that they never had recieved anything. After getting chewed
out by these people, we had to talk to Mike and let him know
that whoever had taken these subscriptions never sent us the
information to fill them. Thats just one example from a few years
back.

Financially DanielAmos.com and 77s.com are back on track after
the changes that went on a year ago. Now we could probably
discuss with Mike and Terry how they want to handle any
future clubs.
