I personally think that AF blows away most of the Dogs stuff as far as songwritting goes, and I love the Dogs. It's just soooo good, and soo rootsy. I could listen to it every day several times.
LK9, you really should get AF, a fan of american music like you is really missing something incredible.
Dr rich, you got it right on the money about the comparison to Wilco-Summerteeth. I think we've discussed this but it seems that Terry's and Jeff's approaches to production are very different, but similar results...

Hey Dr-
You are right on that one, but I think that Motorcycle would be more accesible simply because AF country influences might turn off the kids these days, not me but some maybe.

Oh yea, the first time I told my wife about the Lost Dogs I described them as a combo of CSNY & The Dead, this was just after Scenic Routes came out. I feel that the Dogs have sort of trancended that vibe by now, not left it just added to it.
The first time I saw the Dogs at C-Stone 93???I think I almost felt like I was at a dead show, there was the Patchouli, the smiling long hairs, but no cloud of sweet smelling smoke in the air, and a good thing too...I think

I wish I lived out your way, I would be a "dead"icated member of your body...sorry couldn't resist.
As to Ripple, yea it's a great tune, but not my fav. My two favorite albums by them are American Beauty & Workingman's Dead of course though. I really do think that Scenic Routes has many deadlike moment on it, and I also think that Black Gold Fever sort of rings of it as well.
Good Times, Good Times....

I've been really diggin John Wayne lately. Listening to it a lot in the car and just can't begin to praise it enough. One of Terry's best solo efforts. I like it as much as Avacado for totaly different reasons.

First of all
that Dead song in question is I think shade of Grey? No not the Choir album, but the Dead song. It does stick in the head a bit. Not my fav, but still good. My Favorite Dead tune would be Cumberland Blues, FREAKIN GREAT TUNE!!!!
Secondly,
I always thought that Shotgun angel was a mix between the Eagles and the Dead, there dead like moments on the LD as well(IMO)
Thirdly
"Never been high" You good boy, you....I can't say that however there are several years of my life where I coud've said that I wasn't ever not high....Not an advertizement just a fact
Lucy
PS if you like the dead and dig bluegrass, go find yerself some Old and In the Way(a side bluegrass band of Jerry's, very good s tuff!!!)

Yea I agree completely. I loved it from the start, but didn't fully comprehend it for quite some time. Very few artists have what it takes to make that dense of an album. It is truly 3D unlike most of pop music and even much of similar music. I love that almost every time I listen to it, a new layer unfolds for me. The only thing I can give it constructive criticism on is that the music is soooo good, that I have a hard time paying attention to the words. Not a complaint, but the music, ahhhhhhhhh the music.
I rate it in the TOP 5 DA along with Kalhoun, and DFBB, and VH, and MBD, and....well you get the picture.

Hey -considering this...I know you guys videotaped all the shows. Is there any chance of the audio or the actual video being sold in the future? I would be STOKED to get a copy no matter the quality. Whatever it takes!!

Hey John-I agree with you. It was fine by me. I rarely get to go see shows at all let alone Terry in any of his incarnations, it's all good with me. Yea The Lifest folks were a bot annoying, but if the boys came back I'd go no questions asked, even if it were just Terry doing a solo show. You are right it is always a gift.
