That would make sense to me. The first two tracks on "Random Acts & Hodgepodge" Terry recorded with Jason Martin of Starflyer 59. I felt that track #1 on RA&H especially sounded like "Fearful Symmetry" stuff.

I may have to check out this album.

Who? Me? Or Dr. Rich? I think many of us like to talk about ourselves.

Hey Big Dork,

I FINALLY got around to order my DAmb it CD. I can't wait to hear it. Thank you so much for all your hard work. If there is a volume two, I will definately be there to submit a track or two. My partner's neighbor has his own band with guitar, bass, and drums and they're pretty DAmb good. I'm sure I could get them or at least Bill to back me on a song or two.

Take care and thanks again for all the hard work.

I guess it is appropriate for these 2 CDs to arrive today on the Festival of the Three Kings. When I lived in Barcelona, it was a bigger tradition to give presents on the "Festival of the Three Kings" (the Epiphany) than on Christmas Day.

I'm just glad that I bought all the CDs when they all first came out. But I must say, TST and the boys are hard to keep up with. They are just so musically prolific and profound. Now that I have AC#2 and RA&H I need to sit down and count how many TST, DA, SE, and LD CDs I have. I must have over 50.

By the way, I noticed that the movie "Joshua" is on DVD now. Has anyone seen it? Can you hear the Lost Dogs song in it. Terry talked about how it was cut from the soundtrack when he did the concert in Chicago. Just wondering.

Avocado Club #2 01-06-2003 15:55 Forum: General Discussion

I just got my Avocado Club disc (Volume 2.)

There's only two tracks (I was kind of hoping for one or two more.) I think that "Welcome to the Real World" from Random Acts & Hodgepodge should have gone on AC#2--the style better fits on AC.

It's really nice on AC#1 and AC#2 to see Terry writing some personal and simple acoustic songs. I always like the Derri Daugherty would record great songs about love and relationship but it seemed that Terry hadn't recorded many. "little, BIG" and the two AC discs are welcome additions to Terry's already large and vast repertoire.

Track #1 "Simple Things" is just a great simple song with Terry on the guitar and some back up vocals (provided by Terry himself.) With this track I feel like I'm getting a glimpse into Terry's life and what he values in his relationship with his wife. It's a reaffirming song about love and relationship.

Track #2 I think has a typo on the CD sleeve. The sleeve says it is called "Every Day of the Week" but the faceof the CD and the chorus of the song say "Every Tuesday of the Week." It's another simple song, no fancy post-production. It's the kind of song you'd expect to hear at an open mic night in a small smokey coffee shop.

Of the two, I like "Simple Things" better. Maybe it's because I identify more with the lyrics. Regardless how much money you have, it's the simple things that hold a couple together.

Hope y'all enjoy!

Okay, here's my review of "Random Acts & Hodgepodge." If you're still waiting for yours and want to read it without hearing what someone else has to say, then don't read on.

Track #1 "Satellite Moon" is reminiscent of Daniel Amos circa late 80s-early 90s.

Track #2 "Prayer Warrior" Hmmm...I'm not sure what to think of this one. It sounds like Terry wearing a cowboy hat and crawling in slow motion through an echo tunnel in desperate need of some water.

Track #3 "Welcome to the Real World" sounds like it would have gone perfectly on Avocado Club #1. I like it.

All the Neverhood and SkullMonkey demos (#4-#7) are great!!! If you liked all the stuff on Imaginarium, you'll love these renditions!!!

"Goodie Bear" (#Cool is a funny, silly song. It shows Terry's ability to change his voice. The music reminds me of the theme song from the British series "Queer as Folk."

And I LOVE the theme song to "Project Geeker" (#9).

Track #10, "Hamster Theme" is sort of big band-esque, it makes me want to get up and swing dance.

Track #11 "Lift Up Your Hearts" with Steve Hindalong sounds like something I've heard before. I can't place it. Was this song released on anything else in another format?

So those are my thoughts. Any one else?

Yeah, that means that my Prickly Heat one should be #1 too! I had thought that "Hodgepodge" was going to come in a jewel case though. But I went back to the original announcement and it only said that the new Telethon one would be jewel box release. Either way, I'm really liking the music, I'm on track #5 now.

#4 and #5 are from Neverhood, but it's Terry playing guitar and humming and doing "la" to the music. It's really cool sounding.

Song #1 "Satellite Moon" sounds great as does #2 "Prayer Warrior." Some good stuff so far!! I can't wait to hear what others have to say!

My Top 5 for 2002

5. I learned how to swing dance.

4. I confronted my father in a mature manner about serious issues that were affecting our relationship.

3. I became a full member of the church that I began attending in 2001.

2. I was offered a big raise at my current job to prevent me taking another job (one that I really didn't want, but would have had to take for financial reasons.)

1. I met the person I plan to spend the rest of my life with.

I think that some banks have special loans for DA fans in order to purchase out of print DA material from ebay. Chek your local bank!

I want a new Eddies album!!! But first I want the Special Release CDs, then they new Lost Dogs CD, then the 2nd Avocado Club disc, then the new TST album, THEN I want a new Eddies CD (oh, yeah, and a new Daniel Amos album on top of that, but this one should be a 3 disc set with no song on the 2nd disk, just a lot of static to confuse everyone so we think someone messed up or something!)
