Maybe everyone's at the houses of the holy?
Our pastor made mention of an Indian guru in town for a sold out yoga session Sunday morning. Name something like Bagavan Das. I said everyone went to see Bag (not God) and Das not funny!
(don't think anyone went from our local house
)
This thread's still kickin' |
On top of laughing at MF for this comment, which he made right after our pastor said this man's name in the middle of the sermon, I had a hard time composing myself because all I could think of was Haagen Daas (ice cream).
Ice cream spirituality
Could be catching many
Like a bad cold
On a warm summer day
Sorry, couldn't help myself. Just another shameless post.
Das not funny eeder!

Hey - I got it in me thick head to do something reaallly rad-
like go to church! |
That is reaallly rad!
Just don't get stuck in some legalistic place! There are a few decent places out there!
Unfortunately, we can't trust the church
, so we have to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us to the right place.
Of course, now that I'm posting, it's really Monday morning! Let me know how it was!

U R Welcome! I'm the emotional one of the MF/BR union! But he tends to get just as emotional over music!
Here's a bit of background on why I have all the fun! Hopefully your wife will soon join! It's been recently that I have become fascinated with TST/DA/77's/Dogs. I had been bitten by a major religion bug! Knew something was wrong at church; MF didn't see it for a while. Change came in Sept. '02. MF told me about a Dogs show in Charlotte (about 2 hour drive from here). He tricked me with an acoustic worship CD that Derri produced and sang on. I fell in love with his voice!
MF had 3 guys to go with him to see the Dogs; one by one they all cancelled. The religion bug bit; I just couldn't see MF going to a bar in Charlotte by himself (like I was going to protect him! Ha!
). So I told him I would go. (I did have ulterior motives!
) We had a great time and got to talk for a while to Terry!
While there, a man who lives near Asheville sat beside MF and was so excited about what God was doing in his church. In the car, MF told me how sad it was that we couldn't say the same about our church. At that point we started to visit around. That's how we ended up at an interdenominational church and the religion bug was squashed!
My fascination for the Dogs flourished. We went and saw them in Taccoa Falls, GA (about 2 hours from here) with our children. It was a good show, but a little different than the one in the bar. Afterwards, we had a chance to get some pics with the guys and even had the chance to talk with Derri.
Then the Backyard BBQ tour came. We went to a private show north of Atlanta (about 4 hours from here). Yeah! We're crazy!
But it was worth it because Derri was planning to be there! (Like I said earlier, I fell in love with his voice!) We had such a good time, and I began to really appreciate Mike and Terry's talent much more at that point. Then we started to play more of Terry's music and I just opened up! He's a musical genius!

Me too! I didn't necessarily want to go until MF got home and started telling me about what a great show it was! I actually got a little jealous. But then when he told me that the guy who went with him is recently out of work, I got over my jealousy real quick. I was glad I gave up my spot to give this man an opportunity to do something he otherwise couldn't do! (pray for him - he was out of work for about 5 or 6 months, got a job and quit because they did him very wrong.)
I also am glad that you put it out MF, although I definitely have the advantage here of hearing the story firsthand, in person, the next morning at breakfast! I got to hear the excitement in his voice! Just imagine how you all feel when you are playing music and you know you just nailed a song! That's the excitement I felt vibing from him that morning!

Thanks for the tip Jiminy! I'll find something that he can use for a mic (if he doesn't figure it out on his own!)
He loves to sing in the mic, and if he improves at a constant rate, he'll be better than you when he is 24 times older!
By the way, how about that generation gap? You stumped Mountain Fan on this tip! He thought you were talking about the rectangular boxes that microwave oatmeal comes in until he thought about it for a minute! Then he got it. I, on the other hand, got it right away (after all, I don't eat microwave oatmeal - just the regular kind you cook on the stovetop! while Mountain only eats microwave oatmeal!) Oops! I'm telling on myself! I don't get up to fix his breakfast.
Oh well, that's what happens when we stay up late on the DAmb.

Give him a couple of years and he probably will be! He really has natural ability in music. Our 5 year old daughter has always liked music and danced whenever music came on, but she never really kept time with the music like he does. This morning, he used his toybox lid and said, "This my bitar" (his word for guitar) and tonight he started banging on the barstool in the kitchen and said, "This my drum."
Like I said, give him time! He'll be crankin' out the tunes!

Woggy, Of course, you're partial!
But seriously, I finally got to listen to MNF today while Mountain was at work. It is really great! I enjoyed most of it, as did our 2 yr old son, who was bobbing his head to the beat. He told me he was playing the drums and started banging on his plate, his cup, the table and anything else he could bang on.
The art work is pretty cool, too!

I've hardly heard or seen it since Mountain Fan and I got MNF on Tuesday. I had to rush out to a meeting and got back kinda late. I heard about 6 or 8 songs on disc 2 before I left. When I got home he was packing it in his bag to take to work and I haven't seen it since! I guess I need more patience, huh?
After all, patience is a virtue that I am learning!
Can't wait to see all this amazing art work y'all are beamin' about!
