Dick Dale (King of Surf Guitar) |

We went to see a concert this weekend in which friends of ours opened for Dick Dale (King of Surf Guitar). Noticing several beach boys styled songs in DA, Does anyone know if Dick Dale inspired Terry and the boys musically? Thanks.

Terry gave me an education on this last Winter when I spent time in Orange County with him.
I guess there is this long standing argument over who came up with surf music first. And then there is the argument if REAL surf music has lyrics or is instrumental only.
There is the Dick Dale camp and some other camp I'm trying to recall and there is the Beach Boys, who, if I recall correctly, were kind of a marriage between these two.
At any rate, Terry really covers this well in his liners from Surfonic Water Revival.
Any body else wanna surf in on this one?!

Hmm... if I didn't know better I'd say that surf music originated from Chuck Berry. Mind you that's where it originated from. Not who started it.
