I really like this music. A bit different than other DA, but it's generally probably my favorite second to MBD. Not because it's necessarily the best musically or lyrically but in the way that it touches my heart. I can see a lot of where I have been, am, and where I do and don't want to go. Also the neat stuff related to the "greatest generation".

I think the song "WEWH" was a good pick for "Our Personal Favorite World Famous Hits", especially considering the title was not simply "DA Greatest Hits". My overall personal favorites are probably "Sins of the Fathers" and "Glory Road".

My second taste of Daniel Amos, after Mr. Buechner's Dream. I don't have the bookset though, just Songs Of the Heart Frown I love the album; very interesting music and lyrics. When Everyone Wore Hats, Sins Of The Fathers, and Evangeline are my favorites. Along with Organ Bar, and...all the other songs on the album.

I was working at a frame shop in Malibu when that album came out. I would drive to McDonald's for lunch listening to SOTH. I didn't care much for Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You and would skip forward to the original stuff.

That's why it was a regular occurance for me to be pulling out of the drive-thru facing the ocean, taking my first bite of soggy fry and my first sip of Orange Hi-C, and to hear her parents urging Aloha to get back into the bus!

Sounds bring memories of sights, smells, and tastes.

God is great!

SOTH is my favorite DA album. I like MBD but I love SOTH. I think the story concept is great.

WEWH is a heartbreaking song.

Really is one of Terry's best.

Strangely there are some DA albums I imediatley like when
I hear them. SOTH is one that I liked more and more was time
goes by. Not sure why... it's strengths seem more subtle to me.
MBD knocked me over.

Most reviewers didn't like SOTH if I remember correctly. I love it because it is so experimental and strange. Get back into the bus aloha is so cool. I love every song on it. Every one of DA's CD's is my favorite in a different way. I have an emotional attachment to each of them like family. To say you love a DA CD more than another is like saying you love one of your kids more than the other. WOW, that is profound Big Grin

That mostly sums it up for me, too!

And as for kids, well... let's just say some are a little harder to love at times that others but you still have the great love for them all. You'll find out one day I'm sure!

SoTH is my second favorite after MBD.

It took me a long time to dig in to this one, and I still fly by the first track.

Drive, He Said
This "devil went down to Barstow" fable probably had its roots in my roots,
which included numerous family vacations travelling through New Mexico and Arizona on Route 66.
Yes, that is me whistling at the end of the song, and not a professional as you may have imagined.

Roland Stephen Taylor was born December 9, 1957

Terry Scott Taylor is born May 24th, 1950

I wonder if Terry & Steve ever "ran" into each other in the early 60's ?
