It doesn't really change the fact that I like Doppelganger... Wink

Doppelganger Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

Doppelganger is one of my personal favorites,
it's weird, thats true. But the messages are right on the
mark and sometimes it's a very interesting thing to hear
those messages from a 'weird to us' perspective.

"Real Girls" really makes you think about the whole
use of models as objects to sell cars, etc.
The reduction of women as a person to an object.

"New Car" of course, the name it you claim it mentality
that still surfaces in some Christian circles.
"I am one of the King's kids, I deserve the best!"

"Youth With a Machine" ...Really takes on new meaning
now days.. with the internet, and other 'carry with you'
gadgets.

"Autographs For The Sick" - The best example of this idea
I can think of is: I was watching TBN when we were in the
studio in NC mastering the "When Worlds Collide" CD.
That gaudy large-wigged woman was talking about going
to minister to starving children in an orphanage in Nigeria
I beleive, she went on to show a clip of her handing
these poor starving kids their very own Barbie. The kids
just held it out in front of them awkwardly and stared
at her. (Probably wondering why she didn't give them food?)
And then the lady went on to cry all her mascara in black
stream down her face.. and say keep sending in the Barbies.

It sort of seems like a dark album, and I guess rightfully
so. If it's a study on the human condition, the fact that
we are fallen people.
I sort of take it in the context of the whole Alarma
Chronicles, it's not the end of the story.

"Come on Barbie, Let's Go Party"

"you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere"

Who needs food - when you can have Barbie

Now that's ministry

What about Barbie Nation on Randy Stonehill's Wonderama CD?

Kinda similar to the "Real Girls" mentality.
