this board moves much faster for me. I think it's because a lot of the old threads are gone as much as the upgrade

Supposedly, this newer version of the board is faster than the old one we were using - even for dialup.

The one we had been using was the "beta" test board.. from back when the German nerds first invented it. Well, about a half a dozen different updates have been released since then - fixing various security issues and bugs. That's why we really *needed* to update asap.

In the future, we should be able to update without having to delete anything.

Dialup vs. cable vs. DSL is all irrelevant to the web server hosting the board and the software on the web server that provides the board functionality. To the web server it's just a stream of TCP/IP packets arriving on port 80, it doesn't care if the source of those packets is a browser running on a PC or whatever connected via dial up (PPP or SLIP protocols) or

The history of the old board made it fun, too. Sometimes I'd go through old posts and read them, even the very earliest stuff. I put alot of thought into some of them and they became very special to me. Most of those are now gone and I lament the time I spent on this board because it all seems like vanity, a striving after wind.
