From Terry's interview on MC Tracks, the change in name was deliberate. Here it seems it's for clarity as much as anything. It stands out well, it's not understated like the original artwork. He left before Vox Humana and the prominent DA on the cover seemed to reinforce a change. The abbreviation remained right up until Motorcycle when it was back to Daniel Amos and, coincidentally, Jerry was back in the fold.
