Do I still have the same opinion about the board? To some extent, I do. I am still troubled by lionizing pop icons while attacking Christians, whether they are evangelists, CCM artists or politicians. But, now I can see the playing field better- I know some of the comments are from aliases and are meant to be funny, others are from certain people who espouse a different worldview than I. I also now recognize that the board is made of many people with many different ideas- my first cursory glance didn't take the whole board into perspective.
To be honest, I am bothered less by the attacks on the Tuxedo Clad Megastar now because they are more based on his persona and style than on his message, IMO. The attacks on Dobson are more troubling to me, but they aren't shared by everyone and I appreciate the differences of opinion.
I think I bring a very Biblically conservative voice to the board. If you read what others post about me, you'd think I was way off in right field, but my views are really pretty garden variety protestant evangelical. You can hear the same talk in a number of churches in your home town anywhere in the US and they're pretty standard, boring even. I put a very high value on reaching the unsaved for Christ, because I actually believe there is no other way to salvation.
I think a message board has a way of creating a false impression about personalities of people. I don't think anyone on this board would recognize me in "real life" from my posting on the board. For one thing, I have a really sharp wit and I come back with one-liners extremely fast. There's no way to experience that on a post. Also, I'm small and deformed physically so when I come across as "brash" on a post- I don't in real life because of my size, etc.
One more thing has changed- I now own alot of CDs by the bands of Terry Taylor. My favorite is Lost Dogs, but the others are pretty great, too.
