And he wouldn't even know until the next morning when he woke up. So it should be "could i make it through the next day"
Right?

Nonono, you've got it all wrong.... |
|
"If you receive your calling before I awake / Could I make it through the night" just means "If God pulls a Samuel with you during the night and you decide to become a nun, will you kill me in my sleep because I'm evidence of your past unregenerate life?"
I mean, it's so OBVIOUS....

i think sir paul is the king of the stupid line.
example 1:
"bip bop. bip bip bop. bip bop bip bip bop."
- from bip bop on the wildlifealbum
example 2:
"say you don't love him, my salamander"
-from getting closer on the back to the egg album
example 3:
"someones knocking on the door, somebody ringing the bell. do me a favor, open the door and let'em in"
-from let'em in on wings at the speed of sound album
maybe paul is dead....

Very bad indeed. However my kids loved it. On last year's summer vacation it was like "thee" song for them.
I always hated that "Salamander" line on "Back From the Egg" too.
What about "Jojo was a man who thought he was awoman; but he was another man", form the song "Get Back". Now that's pretty awful too.
