First off this is not meant to be overly critical of the web guys - they do an excellent job, however they will probably agree that at times things fall through the cracks, and that as paying fans we forgive some things that in the usual course of business would be unforgivable sins. Now if this all resides with Warm and Filled then for shame - do less, with more quality.
My comments today revolve around the Avocado Club.
To quote the site:
Twice a year (summer and Christmas), Taylor will release to only Avocado club members a limited edition disc of original, new, previously unrecorded or newly bootlegged material. Each disc will consist of 2 or 3 songs, brief liner notes and a protective sleeve .
Received the first one, however no notes. It did come in a protective sleave. It's Christmas, and so far no news of the next cd.
Additionally, club members will receive periodic coupons and discounts for materials purchased on the webstore and at live performances. Further benefits will be announced as they become available (e.g. premium seating at future Terry Scott Taylor related shows and events, stage passes, etc.) Club members will also receive advance announcements regarding upcoming Taylor news and releases.
This is interesting. Nothing like this has come across my e-mail. We hear about Terry things usually from the regular news or posts. As to discounts, well, nothing yet. And do we need them? Most of us buy here to support the band.
What I'm trying to say is don't over sell the small dedicated market. Do what you do best, and do it well. I'd honestly revisit the commitment you're obligating yourself to, and the expectation you're setting on the club and reword the blurb for 2003. Keep it simple. "Join the club, get a couple of fan only releases."
Thus endeth the diatribe.

Well said, Jevon
I like the fan clubs, but they did over sell them just a bit.

We did not pen those words, JT the bands manager did.
We merely are a service to the management and band,
we ship stuff when we have it to ship, we pay manufacturing
when the money is there, we announce things when we
have the info, etc. We basically just do all the manual labor so Terry, Tim, Ed and Greg don't find themselves
stuffing envelopes. And JT can concentrate on label deals,
advertising, planned projects, etc.
The entire plan for the Club was intended to be
exactly what they stated. But, since JT, us and everyone
involved has to fit all this work in between our regular
jobs.. it's difficult to get everything done in the time
frame intended. There was a special event planned for
the club for Cornerstone but Terry's schedule didn't allow
it.
As for Avocado disc 2, we have the discs here right now.
We had to get more sleeves and the artwork is being
printed. Because this second disc is late the subscriptions
have been extended.
We have definately revisited the commitment we've made
and wondered if all we put up with is worth it. If it
wasn't for Terry, Tim, Ed and Greg we would probably
quit the whole thing.

I'm sure most of us think you guys do a great job, and you do! we know it can be difficult. that's what we are saying (I think) do what you guys do best and try not to overextend yourselves so you don't get burned out. Where would we be without the audiori brothers?

Dear Townsends,
We all GREATLY appreciate the work you do. We know you're working hard doing the best you can, for pay that probably won't come until the next life.
We're all benefitting from all the things you do, and it's more than just grunt work. You guys are the ties that bind. You bring it all to us. You facilitate, communicate, distribute, produce, and handle perhaps a hundred other things we don't even know about.
This is a labor of love.
Thank you both.

Ditto allthe apreciation above.
Without you it would be nigh impossable for me to have any of what I have of Terry.
I'm am glad you do what you do - which is why whenever an obvious question on releases etc comes up on the DADL I'm glad to answer it - one less for you...

Thanks for the kind words folks. We really weren't fishing for compliments, but we do appreciate the few of you that really understand our situation. Most don't. You'd be surprised how many people think we're a large greedy business, unconnected to Terry or DA, thats just out to make money. (like we're sitting in Hawaii, sipping martinis and laughing at all of the unsuspecting DA fans & band members that we've swindled)
By the way, we are currently making a number of significant changes in the way we (the warm&filled team) do things... we think some of these changes will make the team a bit more efficient. This should help the fan clubs in particular quite a bit, by reducing the number of times we all get caught off guard by unexpected delays, schedule conflicts and financial problems.

My comments were in no way intended to slam the site / shippers. I know what it's like to be caught holding the bag.
I think you guys do a great job given the tools available. Part of the problem is that expectations are set without regard to delivery. It's the same just about everywhere - marketing and delivery aren't tied together all that well.
I'm not the average casual fan, or I wouldn't spend so much freaking money here. So there.
Hopefully the changes in internal process will benefit not only DA, but MR, LD and 77s.

I apprieciate the fact that this club exists. I always know that the promised product will arrive eventually and I would always rather wait and have quality as opposed to a rush job.
I would forgo the free t-shirts and just know that I am lucky to have new Terry/Da/77s/Mike Roe/Lost Dogs material.
Thank you Townsends for the best website I have ever seen for any band.
