Wrong part of the board. In the dump.
Let's see. Christian rock is stupid.
Christians are stupid.
I'm stupid, but only during the day, says Mister Pedasso.
What a comment.
Christian writers are dumb too.
Too bad Christians support so many good Christian artists. I wonder, are there any good Christian bands?
Nah, they're all stupid.

What happens with the setting sun to improve your mental abilities, Mr. P? Please forgive the stupid question.

Ooooh I'd never assume to be smurter at night.
There's a little Pedasso on all of us. Some hide theirs better than others.

sadly, for the most part that statement is true....
but the few bands that are good, like Da, Adam Again, 77s and all in that group make up for all the Petras, Audio Adrenalines, etc.....

C'mon you don't actually think Petra is dumb?
Okay, maybe now, but More Power To Ya? Beat the System?
It's funny but my Dad, a baptist minister, was trying to get me to quit listening to Christian Rock. I made him listen to "It Is Finished" and he shook his head. He said that the Gospel shouldn't be spread in the world's way. Then he floored me by saying,"What if I decided to make a Christian pornographic movie to reach the people who like that sort of thing?"
I'm now the proud producer behind such classics as "O Come All Ye Faithful", "Left Behind" and "He Is Risen"
i'm a sinner.

I agree, easy on the Petra-bashing. True, they haven't been flawless; but still they've contributed so many good songs, and so much good for God's kingdom, over the years. And the song "Seen and Not Heard" had a life-changing impact on me when I heard it at their concert (believe it or not).
To me, the three successive albums "Beyond Belief", "Unseen Power", and "Wake-up Call" are like a trilogy of great classic-rock sounding songs, chock full of some really good slow power-pop songs.
I agree that Petra might be struggling a little right now; but let's not overlook the good they've done.
To me, one thing they do, or have done, more successfully than most bands, is portray the Christian life as the exciting and dynamic thing that it really is.
Whereas a lot of bands are "life is hard but God is good", or "God's grace saved this ol' sinner" type messages, Petra is more like "this bomb of Jesus has exploded into our lives, now let's radically change our lives right now, and start bringing others into the kingdom".
I like that last message the best, and I think that excitement has been lost in a lot of today's Christian music.

As she pulled into traffic, Elaine Benes turned on her boyfriend's car radio and began bouncing along to the music.
Then the lyrics sank in: "Jesus is one, Jesus is all. Jesus pick me up when I fall." In horror, she punched another button, then another. "Jesus," she muttered, discovering they all were set to Christian stations. Then the scene jumped to typical "Seinfeld" restaurant chat.
"I like Christian rock," said the ultra-cynical George Costanza. "It's very positive. It's not like those real musicians who think they're so cool and hip."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
The moment you have to charge for the product it's a business. Pure and simple. If it's to be a ministry, then give people access to the message for free.
I like a lot of Christian music and will pay to listen to music that I find personally affirming. I'd rather hear people shout out about Jesus, than hear people sing about getting into someone's pants.
But product has to move. Even our beloved small market bands have to have enough marketing muscle to pay the bills. They are artists, who speak about things that support us and make us think. But it didn't come free.
So why grey poop'on all over the Christian music industry for selling what the majority want to buy? It's like the old joke about reprinting "footprints" on everything you can cause people will buy it.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. I don't support everything that comes out, because I don't like a lot of the music out there - whether it's Christian or not. A non Christian boyband gets the same amount of airtime at my house as their Christian counterparts. None.
This reminds me of those conversations I'd have with my old musician friends years ago about "selling" out. Anything that was commercial was evil, and atonal crap was the sound a true artist strived for.
So here's to Petra, even without Louie. Here's to pretty boy MWS, who I like, and have listened to for years. Here's to a new Whiteheart album.
It's music, and if you like it support it, and if you don't - vote with your wallet and let it rot on the shelf.
