See the FAQ, it's all good, and supports the band. Buying here's great. buying elsewhere assures wider distribution.
The point? Well, if it's the 15 buck thing that's got you worried, buy 3 of the 5 dollar ones and spread the news!

Headline News
-------------
by "Weird Al" Yankovic
parody of "Mmm mmm mmm mmm" by Crash Test Dummies
Once, there was this kid who
Took a trip to Singapore and brought along his spray paint
And when he finally came back
He had cane marks all over his bottom
He said that it was from when
The warden whacked it so hard
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm
Once there was this girl who
Swore that one day she would be a figure skating champion
And when she finally made it
She saw some other girl who was better
And so she hired some guy to
Club her in the kneecap
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm
They got paid for their sound bites
And sold their TV movie rights
And then, there was this guy who
Made his wife so mad one night that she cut off his weiner
And when he finally came to
He found that Mr. Happy was missing
He couldn't quite explain it
It'd always just been there
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm
Ahh ahh ahh ahh, ahh ahh ahh ahh
Ahh ahh ahh ahh, ahh ahh ahh ahh

Yes, there are indipendantly different reasons for the various
prices on CDs here and there.
For an example, we buy Horrendous Disc from Solid Rock
at a certain price, which is more than what we would pay
if we had manufactured it ourselves, because they want
to make their money back as well.
So that sets the price on that title, it's not good business
for us to sell it for less than what we paid.
But Solid Rock, since they manufactured it could easily
sell it for less than we can, since they paid a lot less per
CD.
Then we also had an agreement with Solid Rock not to undercut
them ...so their price kinda sets ours.
With each and every label there are different degrees of arrangements.
And we agree, it's hard to correctly explain here, but both support the
band. In the case of Galaxy21, they have to make back all the money
they put nto the manufacturing, advertising and marketting the album.
Which all helped DA, and if Galaxy21 wants to put out more CDs..
they need to make their money back.
Usually, the artist is granted a certain number of discs to sell at shows
or on their website.. which puts money directly in the artists pockets.
Then after those are gone, the artist has to buy the CDs from their
label to sell, with each label having different artist bulk prices
and arrangements.
Soooooo this is a long way of saying the band needs people to
buy from both. Buying directly from their label or the band, is the
prefered choice.. then followed by CD store chains.. then the used route.
IF wanting your purchase to help the band is on your mind.
The CD store chains do help too because basically... like say a CD
we manufactured.. lets say we had 2000 and were only selling
say 500 through this site. We could sell 300 or so to a CD store
for a lower price than what we have here so they can sell them
close to our price. So in a sense it's a sale from us, but we actually
get less money for that sale. ....Although without that store,
it might be a sale we wouldn't otherwise make.
A lot depends on the title involved.
The band would be in best shape if they and their label
could sell every copy they manufacture themselves.
heh...hope thats not too confusing..

Do we get college credit for this? |
|
Seriously, I do learn a lot about the music/marketing biz on this board. Will there ever be a diploma available in the Webstore?
