Okay, on the flip side of that I has some friends that moved into JPUSA and they had some really strange, very strict rules for them.
I'm not going to flat out call JPUSA a cult, but they have some issues to say the least. I am not going to get into it here on the message board, but of the 4 friends who joined, only one is still a member of the JPUSA community.
I have been there to church many times in the past and used to go to the Cornerstone Coffee House quite a bit and always had fun. However there is something odd going on there.

Nanna Greene,
That link I put up is Mike Warnke's actual site,
www.mikewarnke.org
I am not going to get into the whole controvercy stuff
because I don't have the facts, but if he is the one that
brought your sister to the Lord...maybe she knows
he has a message that would be helpful to her son.
(Mike can have struggles in his life and still be used by God,
if not, none of us could be)
There are a lot of other bands and speakers that get
into the same types of things and subjects and maybe some
here can direct you towards those various ministries.

Dennis,
I know what you mean. There was one time a Christian group
that came to our church when I was a teenager, they were kinda
odd...very strict views...they would corner me in the hall
and speak to me as if I needed help, because my hair was long.
(I was actually one of the kids that liked Church, some of the more
straight laced looking kids were the ones that needed talked to.)
But my point is, I am sure they help certain people, certain people
need that..what they do. If you don't need it, it just seems weird.
I kinda see the JPUSA stuff that way, for certain people, they need
the way it's done there I am sure. But it may not be for everyone.
Had that group stayed at my Church they probably would of
driven me away, not that they were wrong about Christianity
really, but their method didn't fit me.

I saw Mike a long time ago as a perhaps jr. high youth with a church group, probably 20 years ago now. From what little I remember, he was somewhat funny and didn't really say anything that was very questionable. His main thing at that point was his testimony. I am sure plenty of people were probably genuinely saved and lives changed, in spite of his reported personal failures. Of course, it is the blood of Christ that actually saves and all we vessels ever are is a nice container made of dirt at best.

Yes, exactly. Right on the money, as the young people say!
