I have only heard Daniel AMos cds!!
Im curious about Terry's solo cd, I would like to know which 3 would be the first cds I should buy after I complete my DA collection?

You can't go wrong with any of them. BUT....
I like the first two because they are so atmospheric and personal. So, get "Knowledge and Innocence", "Briefing for the Ascent", then get "Avacado Faultine". It has a very "Lost Dogs" feel to it. Then I'd get "John Wayne".
But you need 'em all....

K&I is one of my all time favorite albums.

I gravitate more to the rock/pop of John Wayne

I agree with UnderDawg. However, I missed the first printing of LITTLE, big and am waiting for it to become available again (Jason and Eric: any idea of when?), so I can't say if it should be one of your top 3 or not.
Since you don't have any Terry solo stuff, perhaps Glimpses of Grace would be a good starting point. It has songs from K&I, BftA, John Wayne and two or three odds and ends.

K&I and Briefing are moody, K&I followed the death of his grandfather and Breifing followed the death of his grandmother. They were the people that raised him and the songs are somewhat beautiful and sad, a person dealing with loss, tempered by the fact that he knows he will one day see them again. Musically, more of a John Lennon solo type of thing possibly.
John Wayne rocks, the songs are catchy with a lot of guitars and the subject matter isn't as heavy as the previous two solo albums.
Avocado Faultline is sort of a singer/storyteller type of thing in my opinion.
The music is mellow and drifty with almost a touch of country mixed with spanish music or something to that effect.
Little Big is good, but its kind of a small little fun album. It is short, the songs are sort of Brian Wilson-esque pop more or less.
Glimpses of Grace, as was said, is a compilation of bits of all the solo Terry stuff.

We played "One More Time" at my father-in-law's funeral. I wish I could have played it live, but I didn't really feel it was appropriate to do a "performance" at such an event. Besides, I couldn't have had the beautiful string section that way!

I've said this before, but Light Princess brings me to tears every time. Listening to that song is both an emotionally wrecking and spiritually uplifting experience, and speaks to me on a personal level like no other song.

If I remember correctly that song might be about a baby they lost, not 100% sure right now I am thinking of the right one.

Yeah, an unborn baby. I know there are a lot of folks who have gone through that, and it is quite saddening. Sort of partially, that is why my daughter's name is Joy.

i just don't care for the instrumentation of Terry's first 2 solo efforts that much, but the content is good.
i would buy in the following order:
John Wayne
Avocado Faultline
Glimpses of Grace (if you like what you hear on there you can go after the solo CD it's off of. GOG is more attainable than some others)
Little, Big's hit and miss. i wouldn't pay more than $10 for it unless you really liked the early songs too.

If you can walk away from listening to Knowledge And Innocence and not be shaken in the slightest, give up listening to music. Very rarely has something as polished sounding (for the 1980s) also had such raw emotion at its center.

I prefer "Briefing" to K&I.
However I really love John Wayne. Great stuff.

And if you haven't purchased The Swirling Eddies or Lost Dogs stuff, there is even more to buy.

That is not very friendly to my wallet (lol)
I havent heard them but I think the worst thing that can happen would be to listen to them!! Everything Terry touches seems to be good, for instance one of my favorites from Randy S. is WONDERAMA and Terry put some of his touch there!!!

You GOTTA get the new Swirling Eddies and Lost Dogs. Both are among the best of those bands. In the case of the SEs, I'd tend to say it is the best.
