All I can say is WOW! Once again people respond! I'm amazed at how fast we reached and exceeded the goal. Here's hoping we manage to double it!

Almost hitting $17,000.
Ver nice.. if this does go over as well as it seems to be, it may be a yearly or every-other-year thing. Could even potentially do it for Terry's solo albums and other things.

It is my hope that this campaign earns enough to do up the album right; not just the sound, but the presentation as well. It may be too expensive to manufacture, but those digibook releases (like the deluxe editions of Neal Morse's first two and Spock's Beard's Snow) really allow for a lot of creative packaging.

Maybe the Lost Dogs should use this to get the Route 66 dvd off the ground?

I don't think that is a financial issue as much as it is an editing issue. They filmed so much that they divided the footage up among a bunch of people to go through. Most if not all of which have no video editing experience. Some people liked the footage and some didn't, not much agreement on how to handle it. My brother might know more now, but last I heard they were not even sure where some of the footage is. The footage is supposed to finally end up in the right hands though. If they can get all the footage together again and send it off, maybe it can start moving. Too bad so much time has been lost, it would of been best to have it out much sooner after the end of the tour. But whachoo gonna do? We've seen the same scenario before with the 'Making of Buechners' footage.

On the way to $19,000, it will be cool to see what it eventually ends at. Might end up being the best funded DA album in many years.

Yeah, with the bigger budget, maybe they can take out those loud guitars and use clarinets instead! Way better music that way. Or maybe they can afford to go back to vinyl again, instead of those smaller shiny (and I assume cheaper) little records so many of the kids use these days.

Less than $500 away from 20k.
Sure Terry couldn't be persuaded into doing a double-disc like Buechner's?

I was thinking along those lines myself... or perhaps record two albums - a Volume one and Volume two... I don't know. Its all up to them of course, but it seems like a good opportunity for them.

Any idea how many DA songs he must have written over the past 12 years? There must be enough for a double album. Not that he has to do what we say, but as prolific as Terry has always been, its hard to imagine he doesn't have 100 songs tucked away.

Actually, Terry's on record as saying he tends to write "to order", i.e. for specific, scheduled projects, rather than writing songs just for the sake of writing, or just because he was suddenly struck with inspiration. He might have any number of idea snippets swimming around his brainpan, but it takes a budget, a band and a deadline(?) to get him to harness those ideas in song form.

When I asked him at a Lost Dogs show earlier this month about the rumored new DA album, he said he was currently writing for it.

I think its usually a mix. with buechners for example, they all went into the studio with a bunc of scraps and ideas - but they didnt really turn them into songs until they were recording. some of the songs didnt have complete lyrics when the booklet was put together - which is why some of them were wrong in the original booklet, and all of them were incomplete.

In one week's time. Now at least DA has some wiggle-room in order to make the record in.

Is the rumor true that if you hit $30,000 you'll put the album out on 8-track?

I was going to say that people are showing their age by requesting 8-tracks... but now I will just say we could probably make that Edisonesque request happen gramps, but we might have to deliver it via Pony Express.

I'm really getting excited! Is there a chance though that this could slip past the supposed end of the world (aka the Mayan calendar) into 2013?
