- The Audiori Archives website is launched. A very, very early rough version of this TimeLine appears as part of the site. The Audiori Archives website included articles and short timelines about various artists including Daniel Amos, Rich Mullins, This Train, Mark Heard, Phil Keaggy, The Choir, Sixpence, Steve Taylor, Larry Norman, Fleming & John, and Adam Again. In 1999, the DA portion of the website had grown so large that it became the band's official site DanielAmos.com
The name "Audiori" is an obscure reference to another artist featured on the website, Mark Heard, who sometimes used the pseudonym of "Giovanni Audiori." The "Audiori Archives" was a spin-off from the website for the Giovanni Audiori Catalog, which featured rare items being sold by music collectors from around the world.

- The Choir's Free Flying Soul is released on Tattoo Records. Tim Chandler played bass and occasional guitars. Tim also cowrote "Polar Boy", "Sled Dog", "The Chicken", "Slow Spin", and "Leprechaun."
Steve Hindalong: "Tim was still living in So Cal, so we flew him down for 3 weeks to make the record with us. He was ALL IN! Probably more involved creatively and emotionally than on any other Choir album. Good times!"

- The Choir performs in St. Louis MO. at Christ Church, UCC. Brian Quincy Newcomb, the Church's pastor, announces the band and mentions Daniel Amos as the "mothership of Alternative Christian Music". That fragment can be heard at the beginning of the Choir's live album, Let it Fly.

- Lost Dogs' The Green Room Serenade Part One is released. In addition to Terry's heavy involvement with the band, DA's Tim Chandler also played most of the bass guitar.

- The Lost Dogs perform in Bushnell, Illinois at Cornerstone. This was a special second performance at the festival that took place in the BAI tent. The performance was noteable primarily because of the very loose feeling of the show - even more so than the typical Lost Dogs performance. The audience was crowded around the band, packed into a tiny tent and the stage itself was not elevated above the crowd to any significant degree. The Dogs ran through any song that popped into their head including some random jamming and a bunch of covers.

Who could have predicted that the Swirling Eddies follow up to Zoom Daddy would be a CD of CCM hits?
Tim: "On Sacred Cows, we played the cds of the original recordings in the studio while we just sort of played along with them, pretty much not knowing the next chord change..."
Mike Roe: "We recorded the basic tracks for that all in one night. I suggested that we copy the original record we were doing a parody of onto the master tape and simply play along to it and then remove it and see what was left. What you hear is what was left. It was one of the most memorable recording experiences of my life. By 4 a.m. we were all completely out of our minds. I liked that."
Alex: "I was at StarSong as Sr. VP in charge of special projects (concept, thematic, compilations), in Nashville. I was fairly tired with much of CCM and had an idea of the Eddies covering the 'hits.' And so I called Terry and told him of my idea. He said, 'I'm in!' And that's how it started. I got to play on it as well, I think at Gene Eugene's. To Terry's credit, although a 'parody,' he never changed the lyrics to the songs. It is actually not a true parody because of this, but musically, IT IS a parody. And that's the history behind it."

- Douglas TenNapel's animated series Project Geeker begins airing on the WB network. Terry composed the theme music.
While Terry had been initially contracted to write the main theme of the series, Shawn Patterson was chosen to be the composer for each episode's score. Two days before the first episode aired, Columbia TriStar discovered a licensing issue with Terry's music and the first episodes aired with a theme song written by Patterson. A few weeks in, the licensing issues were resolved and Terry's original them was put back into the show.

- Dreamworks' first PC CDRom video game is released - the Douglas TenNapel Creation, The NeverhoOd. The game features a wonderful award winning soundtrack written by Terry Taylor.

- A 34 song tribute to Mark Heard entitled Orphans of God is released on Fingerprint Records. DA performs "Strong Hand Of Love." Other artists include Bruce Cockburn, The Choir, Chagall Guevara, Buddy and Julie Miller, Randy Stonehill, Tonio K, Olivia Newton John and others.

- David Nicholas Perry, known to DA fans for his work on the Eddies' Spittle and Phlegm video, the Darn Floor - Big Bite album cover, and DA's video production on the road, is killed in a freak skateboarding accident in Lake Elsinore, CA.
"Our dear friend and video producer, Dave Perry was killed in a freak skateboarding accident in November of 96. Dave had been part of the DA team since the mid 80s and produced video for us on the road for concerts as well as all the Swirling Eddies stuff and more. His loss is heart-breaking to us all. He was one genuinely great person and his impact on our lives will be forever cherished. He had been living in Nashville for a couple of years and was coming out to California for a skateboarding competition. Terry spoke with him on the phone for a couple of hours, sharing the trials and tribulations each had been facing, and planned to get together for lunch the day after the competition. The last thing they spoke of was the grace and faithfulness of our Lord in the midst of doubt and confusion. Dave shared that he felt more at peace with God than he had in years. This poignant tidbit helped us all get through a very dark time. We'll miss him."
